CERVELO S5 Dura-Ace Di2
The CERVELO S5 Dura-Ace Di2 combines an aerodynamic carbon frame with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 electronic shifting. The S5 platform focuses on aerodynamic efficiency, speed, and responsive handling. As a result, this road bike is designed for riders who want a dedicated machine for racing, fast group rides, and high-speed training.
Cervélo currently lists the Dura-Ace Di2 as one of the S5 configurations. The current build includes a one-piece carbon cockpit, carbon seatpost, a power meter, and Reserve 57|64TA carbon wheels. It uses a 54/40T crankset and an 11-34T cassette with a 12-speed drivetrain.
Aerodynamic Carbon Performance
Aerodynamics are central to the S5 design. Cervélo developed the frame and front end to reduce aerodynamic drag while maintaining the handling characteristics expected from a performance road bike.
The current S5 uses deeper fork legs and a deeper head tube. Cervélo also developed a new one-piece handlebar and stem around its aerodynamic goals. According to Cervélo, the current S5 is 6.3 watts faster than its predecessor in the company’s testing. It is also 124 grams lighter.
Shimano Dura-Ace Di2
The CERVELO S5 Dura-Ace Di2 uses Shimano’s Dura-Ace Di2 electronic drivetrain. The 12-speed setup provides precise electronic shifting for fast changes between gears.
The 54/40T crankset pairs with an 11-34T cassette. This gives riders a useful range for high-speed road sections and changing gradients. The integrated power meter also provides power data for riders who use structured training or monitor performance during rides.
One-Piece Carbon Cockpit
The S5 features a one-piece carbon cockpit that integrates the handlebar and stem. This design helps create a clean transition between the front of the frame and the controls.
Cervélo’s Plus-Four concept makes the hood position 4 cm narrower than the drops. This can support a more aerodynamic position on the hoods while keeping additional width in the drops for sprinting and descending.
Cervélo offers nine different bar and stem size combinations. An authorized retailer can help riders select the appropriate combination when purchasing an S5.
Reserve 57|64 Carbon Wheels
The CERVELO S5 Dura-Ace Di2 comes with Reserve 57|64TA carbon wheels and DT Swiss 180 hubs. Cervélo and Reserve developed the wheelset specifically for use with the S5 frame.
The rear wheel uses an asymmetric profile that complements the shape of the S5 seat tube. Cervélo states that the 57|64 wheelset is 3 watts faster than its previous 52|63 setup while maintaining the same weight.
Designed for Fast Road Riding
The S5 is built around speed and aerodynamic efficiency. Its frame, fork, cockpit, and wheelset work together as a complete performance system.
This makes the bike suitable for road racing and fast group rides. It can also suit riders who regularly train at high speeds. Furthermore, the S5 geometry provides a balance between aerodynamic performance and controlled handling.
Race-Focused Handling
Speed is only useful when a rider can control the bike. Cervélo developed the S5 to retain handling, stability, and rider confidence while improving aerodynamic performance.
The frame geometry is available in six sizes, from 48 through 61. Riders can therefore select a frame size that matches their fit requirements. Cervélo recommends working with an authorized retailer to determine the appropriate size and cockpit configuration.
