ASPERO-5 FORCE AXS 1 Gravel Race Performance
The ASPERO-5 FORCE AXS 1 is a high-performance gravel bike designed for riders who want speed, responsive handling and modern gravel versatility. Cervélo developed the ASPERO-5 for the front of gravel races. The platform combines aerodynamic frame design with clearance for tires up to 45 mm.
The bike also features integrated downtube storage and a threaded bottom bracket. These features make it suitable for competitive gravel racing, fast training rides and long mixed-surface adventures.
SRAM Force AXS Electronic Drivetrain
The ASPERO-5 FORCE AXS 1 uses a SRAM Force AXS electronic drivetrain. The current specification includes a 48T chainring with a 10–52T 12-speed setup. It also includes a power meter and ceramic bottom bracket.
The wide gearing range helps riders manage different gravel conditions. Higher gears support fast sections and descents. Lower gears provide useful range for steep climbs and challenging surfaces.
Electronic shifting also allows quick and precise gear changes. As a result, riders can focus on maintaining their rhythm while the terrain changes.
The integrated power meter adds another useful feature for structured training. Riders can monitor power during intervals, climbs and longer endurance sessions.
Cervélo ASPERO-5 Aerodynamic Design
Cervélo designed the ASPERO-5 around aerodynamic gravel performance. The company states that the current model is 37 watts faster than its outgoing version and 34 watts faster than its nearest competitor in Cervélo’s testing. These figures are Cervélo’s own test claims.
The aerodynamic development also includes the cockpit. Cervélo says the aero handlebar and stem account for nearly 6 watts of the claimed savings.
Despite adding aerodynamic surface area, the new platform is 66 grams lighter than its predecessor. This combination gives the gravel bike a clear focus on speed without ignoring weight.
Gravel Handling and 45 mm Tire Clearance
Gravel courses can include smooth roads, loose surfaces, rough sections and technical corners. The ASPERO-5 is designed to handle these changing conditions.
The frame provides clearance for tires up to 45 mm. Cervélo also developed the geometry around different tire combinations. Equal-size tires, such as 42 mm front and rear, provide stable and confidence-inspiring handling. A four-millimeter difference, such as 40 mm at the front and 44 mm at the rear, can provide sharper handling and additional aerodynamic benefits on less-technical courses.
This flexibility allows riders to adjust their setup according to the course and riding style.
Integrated Downtube Storage
Long gravel races often require riders to carry tools, tubes and repair equipment. The ASPERO-5 includes an integrated downtube storage system that keeps these items inside the frame.
The storage door provides space for a tube, tools and a flat kit. Cervélo designed the system to keep essential equipment inside the frame and out of the airflow.
This approach provides practical storage without requiring riders to depend entirely on external bags.
ASPERO-5 FORCE AXS 1 Equipment
The current ASPERO-5 FORCE AXS 1 is listed by Cervélo at $9,000. The build includes a carbon handlebar, carbon stem and carbon seatpost. Its drivetrain uses a 48T chainring, 10–52T 12-speed gearing, power meter and ceramic bottom bracket.
The bike also uses a Reserve 48/53GR GR wheelset with DT Swiss 350 hubs. This equipment provides a race-focused configuration for riders who want a capable gravel bike with electronic shifting and a wide gearing range.
ASPERO-5 FORCE AXS 1 for Gravel Racing
The ASPERO-5 FORCE AXS 1 brings together aerodynamic design, SRAM Force AXS shifting, wide-range gearing, integrated storage and generous tire clearance. It is built around the demands of modern gravel racing while remaining suitable for training and longer mixed-surface rides.
The ASPERO-5 range also includes the Red AXS 1, GRX RX827 DI2 1 and Frameset. Riders looking for other gravel options can also explore the standard ASPERO range, including Force, GRX RX827 Di2 and Rival AXS 1 models.
