ASPERO-5 FRAMESET Gravel Race Design

The ASPERO-5 FRAMESET is designed for riders who want to build a fast and aerodynamic gravel race bike around Cervélo’s latest gravel platform. Cervélo developed the ASPERO-5 for the front of gravel racing, combining aerodynamic frame development with practical features for demanding mixed-surface courses.

The frameset provides clearance for tires up to 45 mm. It also features integrated downtube storage and a threaded bottom bracket. These features create a strong foundation for a custom gravel build that can be tailored to different racing and riding requirements.

Cervélo ASPERO-5 Aerodynamic Frame

Cervélo designed the ASPERO-5 around aerodynamic performance. The company states that the current platform is 37 watts faster than its predecessor and 34 watts faster than its nearest competitor in Cervélo’s testing. These figures represent Cervélo’s own testing claims.

The aerodynamic development also extends to the cockpit. Cervélo says the aero handlebar and stem account for nearly 6 watts of the claimed savings. At the same time, the new platform is 66 grams lighter than the previous model despite adding aerodynamic surface area.

This approach gives the frameset a clear focus on speed. Riders can then select their preferred drivetrain, wheels, tires and finishing components when completing the build.

45mm Gravel Tire Clearance

Modern gravel courses can include smooth hardpack, loose gravel, rough roads and technical sections. The ASPERO-5 is designed to handle this variety with clearance for tires up to 45 mm.

Cervélo also developed the geometry around different tire combinations. Equal-size tires, such as 42 mm front and rear, are designed to provide stable and confidence-inspiring handling. A four-millimeter difference, such as 40 mm at the front and 44 mm at the rear, can provide sharper handling and additional aerodynamic benefits on less-technical courses.

This flexibility allows riders to choose a setup that matches their course, terrain and riding preferences.

Integrated Downtube Storage

The ASPERO-5 frame includes integrated downtube storage. This system places essential equipment inside the frame instead of requiring an external storage bag.

The storage compartment can hold a tube, tools and a flat kit. Cervélo designed the system to keep these items inside the frame and away from the airflow. This can be particularly useful during long gravel races where riders need to carry basic repair equipment.

The frame is also compatible with a direct-mount top-tube bag, giving riders another practical option for carrying equipment during longer rides.
